I decided to use this picture because I feel that the reader will be able to relate to it. It could also make you more interested in the magazine and want to know why he is on the cover.

The reason I used yellow and blue as my colours is because they are primary colours and people are naturally attracted and more interested in them.

For the magazine name i used the font Viner Hand ITC for 'SDC', and for 'Magazine' and the titles to my articles i used to font Trebuchet MS because I think that they are easily read fonts.

The reason I chose the articles for my magazine is because I think that they would appeal to the target audience - college students. It involves things that may interest them and therefore make them want to read it.

In my initial idea i chose to use the Sussex Downs College logo. I then realised that I could not use this because I didn't create the logo myself and would then be breaking copyright laws.



For the contents page I used the same colour scheme and font as the front cover as it is easily read and people are more attracted to the colours.

I have chosen to have my magazine name as SDC Magazine. I think that its a simple and easily recognisable name.

I have chosen to have the front cover image in the middle of the page because it will be seen straight away, and will be obvious to the reader.

The titles for my articles are either side of the picture as this way it doesn't get in the way of the main image and is easily read.

I have also decided to put the website address so that if any eager reader wants to know any more they can visit the website.

I have decided to choose the first image as my front cover as you can see his whole face, because it looks like the reader can identify with the person in the image. I also think that it is a more happy image, and can make the reader seem more interested in reading it.

This is the blog for my preliminary media task.
I have to create a college magazine cover using a medium close up shot (chest up) / portrait shot.
